E H (Andy) Cockram
As a young man Andy Cockram starred in the 1899 premiership.
Later, in 1901, The
Bunyip described
him along with his skipper Perce Crump and
teammates Cecil Adcock and Herbert Sampson as "the
four best players in the Association."
Cockram played in the famous 1901
and 1902 back-to-back undefeated premierships before
trying out for South Adelaide in 1903. Apparently becoming
something of a journeyman, in 1907 - now at Broken
Hill, he rejoined Cecil
Adcock, and Charlie Waters in the
SA state team that defeated the VFL at Adelaide
Oval on June 17.
Cockram's whereabouts were not recorded
after this, until 1955 when the committee welcomed
him back from Bathurst in NSW, describing him as a
great player for South between 1898 and 1902.
