Willett
elected our first honorary Life Member in 1891
1901 The secretary received the following
letter from TH, Willett J.P. "As first secretary
of the Gawler South Football Club allow me to congratulate
your club on its position this year, I have always watched
though its years since I left. I still follow the old
game… When I went to Port Augusta I played there,
and at Port Pirie I was secretary of the Association.
You will remember I was also secretary of the Gawler
Association. Now I am secretary of the Franklin
Harbour Association and the Cowell club. I have
umpired in several of the matches and played in a few,
so you see I am still interested in the game. I don't
see many of the old boys' names. I see names of players
in your team who were children when I was at Gawler.
and to see our Cowell boys (some married men) with
the blue and white up always reminds me of the Gawler
Souths".
