Arthur
In 1895 there was a sensation that Gawler would be providing six players to the S.A. Football Association. South's F. May and A. Arthur were two of these players, having signed up for South Adelaide.
In 1893 the first Association Team was selected, defeating league club North Adelaide. It was captained by George Sanderson, and the best players included South's Tom Woods, Sam Smith and Toby Arthur.
