| Dean
Clark
1963 Our Coach was forced to resign
his position because of a change in employment and was
replaced by Dean "Bunga" Clark. Bob Argent
filled the position of Vice Captain. Dean won the Mail
Medal and the Club best and fairest that year. It was
his tenth year of football, having started playing B
Grade at 13 years of age. In 1959 Dean joined Central
Districts and played in their top side which was then
seconds football in the S.A.N.F.L. He dislocated his
shoulder in that year's A Grade Grand Final but nevertheless
managed to coach us to a premiership in A Grade. The
B Grade finished the season as runners up, and the Colts
in fourth position.
1964 began with a considerable problem.
Dean Clark was to move to Adelaide and could no longer
continue as Coach. Bert Harkness worked with a league
football player from West Torrens, and eventually Dick
Shirley, was appointed as senior Coach.
